Next San Diego Cruise - 25 June
The next San Diego cruise is set for Sunday, June 25th. We will be starting a bit earlier than normal since we will be hitting the desert. That is, rolling at 9:30am. Also, you will have to make a little drive to reach the departure point out in Pine Valley. About 28mi. east of El Cajon. Don't party too late on Saturday night, because you will need to plan for extra time.
I did a basic run of the course yesterday, albeit in the SUV, and everything looks good. The roads are in very good shape and things are even green in the desert. It is about 155 mi. You'll go from the cool of the mountains to the heat of the desert of San Diego County. The cruise is a good 3hrs., not counting any significant stops. Plan your day accordingly. The basics are:
- Begin and end in Pine Valley
- Laguna Mtn
- Julian
- Banner Grade
- Anza Borrego & Carrizo Badlands
- Old Hwy 80
- Hwy 94 (The best part.)
The drive is definitely worth the effort. RSVP to the e-mail below so that I have an idea who is coming. It definitely halps with the planning and knowing whom to wait for.
Details will be posted later this evening, Sunday, June 11th.
Hope to see you there,
John

Bring the NSX if you care to. While the primary focus is rotary, we have guys bringing their Miatas. We really do not turn anyone down. The main thing is that you like the spirited drives and the enthusiasm generated be sports car lovers.
The latest info is posted here:

Avg highway speed: ~70 mph
Cruising coolant temp: 185' - 205'
Hill climb coolant temp: 210' - 225' (8 West out of Occitillo)
Ambient temp in the Desert: 110'
That was a blast, but man was it hot. (No AC!)

Hey guys, sorry I had to cut out early this time, but I had a great time anyway!
Next time I'll try not to have Motorcycle Racing technique classes scheduled the same day so I can stick it out til the end... That is if you all don't hate me for being able to run my AC full blast riding up hill
What's up with the video by the way?

Sup Vengeance, nice 8 by the way.
I talked to Jim's (1990 GT-X) buddy who said Jim was in the hospital with pneumonia... so I'd say he's got other stuff to worry about right now.

Video! It's cheezy, but I didn't have a lot of footage to work with and I don't have any good video editing programs. Also for reference, I was driving the gold FC, so I was not filming.

That was a good run a couple of weeks back, guys, even if it was a little hot out in the desert.
From the pictures that I have received, I've posted them at the link below.
It is a work in progress and I will be polishing up / editing the pics and
adding text. Check out the Sweeney Pass image. Even though the elevation
is exagerated, it showns the steep, sharp curves.
If anyone has pics they would like posted, please send them to me. If you
have a lot, we can work something out to make it convenient.
Thanks,
John
