I need a RX7 know it all for this one!
ok i have an 1988 RX7 N/A only 40,000 miles on her and i just finished rebuilding it. apex seals are 3mm and corner seals and side seals and oil control rings are all brand new oh and new rotors and mildy used housings. thay had the baffles cut out of them and i added a racing beat exhaust header. will not start i have great spark and avg of 96psi compression in front and rear. NEW plugs and wires, fresh oil and gas. the gas i think is good but i cant even start off of starting fluid, not even hesitation like she wants to start. i have injected oil into the houseings to keep the compression up. ive tried the deflood, where i unpluged the fuel pump and ran it for 7-10sec 4-5 times in one day. after i did that i left the pump unplugged and tried to start it off starting fluid just in case i have still more bad gas in the tank. nothing, then i tried one more time and it poped really loud. the timing has been checked and re-checked.
WHAT CAN I DO PLEASE HELP!!!!

Did you charge the battery really well? Are you getting a GOOD turn from the starter or is it barely turning the motor over. This is why ppl have to resort to push starting to get a rebuild to crank.
Turn up the idle screw for when it does start.

Do you have all the connectors......connected?
Fire, Fuel and compression. I hate to be a broke record but..........
You're missing one element.
New plugs?? are you sure you are getting a good spark?? if so how?? did you pull a plug and lay it on the block and see a spark?
Fuel, if you are using starting fluid can you make sure it is being sucked in?
did you do a compression test? Can you just pull the plugs out and listen for the CHUGS as described as a poor mans compression test?
All I can think of.

Spark is good i have pulled the old plugs and i had good spark but i know how compression can blow a spark out. so i bought new ones and it seemed to be better spark.i have grounded a plug on every wire and tested spark.
its more a fast WOOSH and i have checked the compression its a 96psi avg front to back.
i sprayed the fluid right into the intake manafold and tried it in the air box when i sprayed directly into the manafold it poped really loud once and that was all ive gotten out of it
here is a picture of the cas
the pully is on the first mark and this is what it looks like inside.....

So you are getting fuel thru the injectors... i know my car would not even try to start when i had the lines reversed, there will be fuel in the lines/ rails but i dont exactly know why it would not start when reversed all i know is i was getting no fuel from the injectors themselves :s just try reversing the lines not hard to do and if it solved the problem...

I had to pull a few rebuilt motors a couple of blocks to get them started. Even though you use the "fuse trick" to TRY and unflood the motor, it could require more. Try pulling it for a few blocks, in 2nd gear.
Also with spark, I forget who said it, but they said, if you want to make sure your really have spark, unplug the wire from the spark plug and hold it in your hand, then have an assistant crank the motor. Or you could unplug the wire and try to cause a spark from the wire to the shock tower bolts. But the first idea is just as accurate, and much more memorable.

Yeah i would def try to pull start before you go messinfg with anything else. Sounds like it might be a stuck apex too. Wich leads me to ask why you would use 3mm seals on a n/a?

So the car cranks over just fine? Just pulsing, trying to start? Try pulling the EGI fuse but leaving everything else connected. Try starting it again. This will unflood the motor, but there's also a good possibility the motor will catch...
If you *think* it's gonna start and you're confident that everythings perfect (just not starting), try push-starting it... I've had to do this on several of my rebuilds to get them initially started.

did you say that you pulled the lines and got no fuel?. . that should be a good indication that the fuel pump might be the culprit, or clogged fuel filter, or something along those lines.
