fd vs 03 cobra rematch...plus a shelby gt.. vids.

well we went back out for a few more runs today. i did some slight adjusting to my timing above 7500 rpms which helped out alot.

first run he didnt hear my beeps and i got the hit.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6lH721bODM

second run he did the beeps so we got off even, i shifted short in 3rd around 7400rpms which was foolish and in 4th i let it ride out to 8k and pulled him up top hard. my 3-4 shift needs to be around 8100rpms or so because it takes me too far back in the power band and it gives him a slight edge for a short while.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2xLaIivL5o

also here was just some fooling around a few days before with a brand new shelby gt. we had raced once off vid so for the 2nd run which was on vid he hit it well before me and i pulled him good. nothing crazy since it traps 105mph in the quarter but it was fun. he was with another mustand who instigated the whole thing and didnt want to run after seeing that lol. fun times..

nice runs I bet it feels great pulling a car that has 150 more horespower than you do. By the way your car is sweet looking.

yea its a blast. he is now talking about getting a procharger lol. once that happens ill finally have my race fuel setup done.

btw his tuner told him that it dynoed 585whp which i find rather high. if that was the case he would pull on me. he has always said over 550whp so i just write down what he says. but personally i think it is somewhere around 510-520whp.

I think your car is MUCH faster than 407rwhp.

That or your tune is ******* perfect.

There are other FD's with same hp level as you but they are still slow or look slow.

thanks for the responces guys.

1quik, lol it would be nice if i have more then 407whp. i would like to compare it to others but i havent found any vids of similar power online.

matty, that was my first and only time at the track with my car. first trap was 121.7mph next trap was 122.3mph. that day i was trapping .2 mph faster then a silver c6 z06 and a full 2 mph faster then a black c6 z06 both were stock they are fast cars. but what is funny some of them trap 125-127mph it has alot to do with the weather and the track. also i weighed it at NE dragway at 2830 with me in it.

md, yea brake boosting is key when running with those v8 tq monsters. we started in 3rd gear at 65mph. he pulled me a bit because i shifted to early from 3-4 which took me out of my power band slightly. but we went 3-4-5. from 65mph to about 155mph when i let off.

Those were some pretty good runs. I really appreciate the vids of the C6 ZO6. I have been trying to get a run at one (there are LOADS of those things here) but never seem to run into one when I am in the FD. Looks like it could be a pretty close race. Since my single conversion I have not been able to get anyone to try and pick on me but if I do I will let you know what the outcome was. I dyno'd at a dissapointing 378whp @ 1BAR with a bad tune. Steve came up here to my house and we just tuned it on the street and the car feels much better but I have no idea of an excact dyno number. But I guess those aren't too bad of numbers on a stock ported motor anyways...

definitly good runs, your trap speed is right on par for the 407rwhp, so if anything maybe the cobra's hp is a lil off, either way it was definitly a good kill..and kudos to you for getting it on video

When do you plan on hitting the dyno? I'd like to check it out, or at least know what it puts down.

I don't have plans anytime soon on going back to a dyno. I am getting married in a few months and a dyno run is not really on the list of expenditures... It has to be somewhere in between 380-400. Though I am pretty happy with that on a stock ported motor. I don't really think it is pulling more, but then I have a hard time getting into it with stock rims. The back end likes to wiggle a bit... Rims will come after the wedding.

Cool, I'm getting married in a few months also(september) lol, When I get back from my honeymoon I'll be buying some sort of AI and having my setup (In sig)tuned. With your setup, I'd imagine you'll be closer to 450hp, even on stockports. Either way, congrats and good luck.

To the OP- nice kills, your car rolls out hard! sorry for the thread jack.

was the mustang stock or modified, because if it had over 500 HP it would have pulled harder than what it did, mustang sounds stock to me which they only pull 390HP to the flywheel, maybe 360 max to the wheels.atleast the 03-04 supercharged does.anyway nice kill.

the cobra is well modded and has over 500whp. im friends with the person who owns it. i know every mod he has done to it. here is what he did to a 457whp 99 cobra that was vortech supercharged.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4ZmWUlsEyU

now the shelby on the other hand was stock.

400 is plenty to spank a 500 rwhp cobra and should edge out a c6 z06 as well.

Is the cobra a ported eaton car? I can't see it making 585hp with an eaton without some spray. I think 520whp or so is a reasonable number, and the outcome of the race looks about right for that. 7 sounds SICK

xr4, yes it is a stig ported eaton stage 3 or 4. i agree he is not making 585whp. however that is what he told me. i think he is around 510-520whp.

1qwik, thanks hopefully the dyno i go to reads low. lol. im going up to the track again in mid sept. with some nice cool weather. im going to run street tires to see what i can get for a trap speed. from what i have been reading it should go up 1-2mph without having drag radials on but, i will be running in the 12s for times.
