I think if they put a ceramic coating on the faces of these rotors and then just did a minimum oil passage then I think they could work with road race or extreme street usage.
Here is the idea so you can drill the passages without getting two expensive. Just a ruff draft. If you drill them about every 1in all the way around that should be enough to keep them cool in everyday usage.

they just ran the first run down the strip, i highly doubt that anyone outside E&J has gotten their hands on these.
To the guys that are working on this: THANK YOU. As a poor college student, this gives me more motivation to get done and get a job so I can start buying your parts to make your troubles worth while. This is a huge advancement in rotary technology, and hopefully this will allow street driven rotaries to have aluminum rotors. Good luck with the R&D.

hey guys the car was taken back t the track today first pass 8.3's and 2nd 3rd 7.9's hopefully i get the video tommorow after the passes they found that the alternator was bad

Ok the 2nd and 3rd pass was indeed in the 7.90's with a 7.99 and 7.95 both at 172mph. On the 3rd run the car experienced tire shake resulting in the starter wire dislodging from the starter and ending the night early.

If all one wanted was the oil passages it seems like you could machine the rotor out of two pieces. The gear/ bearing side and rotor faces and then press in the other rotor side (hint, the whole side doesn't have to press in just a circular portion that completes it).
With the gear and bearing attached to the side including the rotor faces are there strong enough forces to cause the pressed in side to walk out?
Next, you have the problem of hardening the apex seal and corner seal grooves.
When Mazda made aluminum rotors for the 1985 3 rotor MX-03 prototype car they cast the aluminum rotor around cast iron apex and corner seal slots. Perhaps you could press cast iron pieces into a billet rotor (from the side dovetailed in so centripetal force doesn't eject it) or try modern coating technologies coupled with more modern ceramic seals than Mazda was using.
Mazda found the side seal slots machined right into the aluminum worked just fine due to the lower kinetic and thermal loads on these seals.

Thank you for the coments. About the ceramic coating, we are looking for a coating but we dont feel ceramic will work. The problem can come from the expansion rate. ceramic does not expand and aluminum does and this would cause the ceramic to come off.

Our first design was a split set up but at high rpm things like to come apart. so we decided to go another way.

i wish you guys the best of luck and i know i speak for everyone when i say that i hope you get great results with all your tests in all the areas that these rotors have to perform in.

our second day at the track

We believe that if we can get them to perfom under high stress like we do on the drag strip. we can get them to work on any application. Our next big test will be on a gasoline engine and we hope to be testing at the Homestead Speed way.

We will be attending the PRI convention in Orlando Florida from Thursday 12-11 to Sat. 12-13. If you would like to visit with us, we will be at the Speed and Custom booth 2957 from 10 am till 12 pm and at the Dyno dynamics booth 4787 form 3 pm till 4 pm every day. We will have some of our products with us including our billet rotor. Our car should be available for some exhibition passes on Friday and Saturday at the dyno dynamics dyno and we will be attending battle of the imports at the Orlando speedway on Sunday 12-14. please come and visit with us.
